A chicken is a type of domesticated bird which is usually raied on farms as a type of poultry. They are the most common bird in the world with an estimated population in 2003 of 24 billion. Chickens are omnivores and will feed on small seeds, herbs and leaves, brubs insects and even small mammals like mice, if they can get them. Domesic chickens are typically fed commercially prepared feed that includes protein source as well as grains.
