A cartouche was an oblong enclosure with a horizontal line at one end, indicating that the text enclosed within it was a royal name.

Tutankhamun was the twelfth Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty and ruled between 1333 BC - 1324 BC. His original name, Tutankhaten, means 'Living Image of Aten', while Tutankhamun means 'Living Image of Amun'.
