Instituted in 1810 these medals were struck in two sizes. Large medals were awarded to generals and smaller on officers of field rank for actions during the Peninsular War 1806-14 and war of 1812.
Obverse - Britannia seated on a globe holding a laurel wreath over the British lion.
This Army Gold medal is made from 22ct gold plated lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a crimson and blue ribbon attached to a colourful card with an image of 1st Duke of Wellington on the front and historical information on the reverse.
