Victoria & George Coin Pack
Quantity:  £4.25

George IV had been Prince Regent for 9 years before coming to the throne in his own right succeeding his father, George III. Social reform was high on the agenda of the time and under the barbaric criminal laws offenders could be hung for stealing a sheep. Sir Robert Peel introduced the first London police force in 1829. A mojor feature of the times was the opening of the railways, Stockton, Darlington and Manchester. This marked the start of the steam-powered locomotive era.

The Victorian Age was notable for both national and international achievements. Britain became the workshop of the world and the Empire stretched from Gibralter ro Australia, Malta to Canada and included vast tracts of India and Africa.

The reproduction Crown coin of George IV is made from pewter and shows the bust of Geroge IV on the obverse and St. George and the Dragon on the reverse.

The reproduction Five Pound of Queen Victorian is made from metal and is 22ct gold plated. The obverse shows the bust of Victoria and the reverse showns Victoria guiding a Lion with her sceptre.

The Victorian and George IV coin set contains two coins held in clear plastic blisters. They are supplied in spectacular six page full colour pamphlet style packaging, complete with images and historical information relating to George IV and Queen Victoria.
