Naval General Service Medal

Instituted in 1847 and issued to surviving claiments in 1848, this medal was originally intended to cover naval engagements of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars but was almost immediately extended to cover all naval actions fron 1793-1840.

Obverse - Profile of Queen Victoria. Reverse - Britannia with her trident, seated on a sea horse.

This Navel Gerneral Service medal is made from lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a white and blue ribbon attached to a colourful card with an image of HMS Vistory on the front and historical information on the reverse.
