Pirates favourite booty was Spanish gold or silver. A Spanish gold doubloon was worth about seven weeks pay for an ordinary sailor. This two Escudos coin is of Phillip II of Spain. Gold escudos like this one were plundered from the Spanish by famous pirates such as Walter Raleigh, John Hawkins and Sir Henry Morgan.

This reproduction two Escudos coin is made from 22ct gold plated lead-free pewter. It is held in a clear blister on a card which has an image of Blackbeard on the front and historical information on the reverse.
