Queen Victoria Coin Pack - Sovereign
Quantity:  £2.25

Victoria was born on 24 May 1819 and succeeded to the throne at the age of 18. In 1840 Victoria married Prince Albert with whom she enjoyed 20 years of marriage. Upon Albertís death she withdrew from public life and remained in mourning for 11 years. Coaxed back into her public role, she became a much-loved and respected monarch.

The Victorian period was an age of discoveries in engineering, medicine and science. Famous figures of the time include the mechanical and civil engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the novelist Charles Dickens and the naturalist Charles Darwin.

Victoria died at Osborne House, Isle of Wight, on 22 January 1901.

The reproduction Victorian Sovereign is made from gold plated lead-free pewter and has an image of Victoria on the obverse and the Royal shields on the reverse. The coin, held in a clear blister, is supplied on a fold-over card with Victorian images and historical text.
