Issued to commemorate the Battle of the Atlantic, this star was awarded in the Royal Navy for six months afloat between 3rd September 1939 and 8th May 1945 in the Atlantic or home waters and for personnel employed in the convoys to North Russia and the South Atlantic. Merchany Navy personnel aslso qualified as did RAF and Army who served afloat or operated over the designated waters.
This reproduction Atlantic Star medal is made from 22ct gold plated lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a blue, white and green ribbon attached to a card with an image of a convoy on the front and historical information on the reverse.
