The clasped hands in the form of
a ring were popular in both Roman times and the Medieval period. Both men
and women wore rings and, as now, gave them as tokens of love. Most early
jewellery was made from lead alloys and bronze and only the wealthy could
afford such pieces made from gold and silver. The ring is 15mm diameter, expandable and is manufactured in traditional
lead-free pewter and gold plated.
The
card has a colour image depicting a medieval scene on the front and historical information on the back.
