During
the Victorian era of social change and prosperity more people were wearing
jewellery than ever before and they were wearing more of it. Trends were as
follows: between 1840 and 1860 romantic, convoluted, grotesque, flamboyant;
between 1860 and 1880 experimental, innovative, visual and between 1880 and
1900 subtle, elegant and witty. Throughout the whole period fashions were
colourful, eccentric and sentimental. The pendant is 28mm X 20mm and is manufactured in
traditional lead-free pewter. Supplied with a silver chain.
The
card is colour depicting a William Morris design on the front and historical
information on the back.
