Religion
was important to knights of the Middle Ages. Between the years 1095AD and
1271 there were several military campaigns to recapture the Holy Land for
the church; there were called Crusades. Each crusader swore a vow, to be
fulfilled on successfully reaching Jerusalem, and they were granted a cloth
cross to be sewn on to their cloths. The cross is 25mm across and
manufactured in lead-free pewter that is gold plated.
The
card has a colour image depicting a medieval battle scene on the front and
historical information on the back.
