Saxons
were members of a Germanic people that invaded the island of Britain about
1,500 years ago. The Angles and Jutes, who were also Germanic peoples,
invaded Britain at about the same time. The groups mixed and eventually
established the Anglo-Saxon kingdom, which lasted until the Norman Conquest
of 1066.
The
4cm tall figures are made from lead-free pewter and come packaged in a full
colour box with an image of a battle between the Saxons and Vikings on the
front and a scene from the Battle of Hastings on the reverse.
