Apart
from the infamous monarchs, the Tudor age (1485-1603) is well known for its
contribution to the arts, literature and exploration. Henry VII defeated
King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485. Henry VIII was the
first English monarch to have a navy and founded the Royal Armouries in
London. He had six wives in his quest for an heir and is buried in St
George's chapel, Windsor. Elizabeth I was the daughter of Henry VIII and was
Queen of England from 1558 until her death in 1603.
