The
word 'Lepidoptera' translates into 'scales wings' in latin. That is because
butterflies and moths have wings covered in tiny scales that provide their
wings with patterns and colours. All butterflies are diurnal (day flying). Their
principle food is nectar which they feed on by uncoiling their proboscis
that comprises of two thin, flexible tubes. The pendant is 32mm wide and is manufactured in traditional
lead-free pewter that is gold plated.
The
card has a colour image depicting a peacock butterfly on the front and
educational information on the back.
