Scotland
Centuries of history abide in
the mighty castles of Edinburgh, Stirling and Glamis; in glorious abbeys
at Melrose, Kelso and Jedburgh; and in the border strongholds such as
Smailholm. Legends cling to Dunvegan Castle, while ghosts of the real past
still haunt Bannockburn, Culloden and Glencoe. There are museums of clan
history and Glasgow's Burrell Collection is one of the grandest treasure
houses of art in Britain.
