The South West is blessed with
a number of historic sites such as Montacute, one of Britain's Tudor
masterpieces; the cathedrals at Wells, Gloucester and Exeter; and the
stone circles of Stonehenge and Avebury and numerous barrow tombs of
long-dead chieftains. The Roman Villa at Chedworth is well preserved, and
at Cirencester the Corinium Museum (opens Feb 2004) has fine mosaics.
