This medal was awarded for operational service
on land in Italy, Sicily, Greece, Yugoslavia and Elba at any time between 11th June 1943 and 8th
May 1945. COVER IMAGE - A Sherman tank of the British 8th Army moving inland through Reggio di Calabria on the opening day of the allied invasion of Italy. 'Sherman' is the British name for the US tank M4 and its numerous variants. Production of the Sherman during World War II totalled 48,347 tanks, the greatest production of any single model ever achieved. |
