This medal was awarded for operational service in the Pacific theatre of war from 8th December 1941 to 15th August 1945. Service with the Royal and Merchant navies in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and South China Sea and land services in these areas also qualified.

CLASP - Personnel qualifying for both this star and the Burma Star, only received the first star with a suitably inscribed bar for the second attached to the ribbon.

COVER IMAGE - HMS Indefatigable was an aircraft carrier serving with the British Pacific fleet. Aircraft carriers had a full-length flight deck for launching and recovering aircraft, elevators to move aircraft to and from the hangers and some had an armoured flight deck to allow carriers to survive prolonged bombing.
