Confederate Private Infantry 1863 Product History |
Most of the south's 500,000 fighting men were young and came from rural farming backgrounds. They served from the time of their enlistment until the end of the war receiving around $11 a month, poor rations and even worse clothing. However, everything that was required was issued to a majority of soldiers but still the southern men generally wore what they chose and not what was ordered. This figure is a typical example of the Confederate Infantryman in the field. He is wearing a light blue jacket which is lined in white cotton drill with two pockets inside the fronts. His rifle is a Richmond Armoury version of the M1861 Springfield. He is carrying a cartridge box on his belt and a water bottle and haversack on his shoulder. Also available singly in a polythene bag. |
