Egyptian Standing Anubis

Product History

Egyptian Standing Anubis

The ancient Egyptians believed in the power of the gods. They worshipped them by holding festivals and by taking offerings to the temples where they were thought to have lived. The gods were represented in different forms, many of them being part animal, and were believed to have special powers.

Anubis was the god responsible for embalming and the protection of tombs. He was represented as a jackal-headed man or a crouching jackal. He would place the hearts of the dead on scales and weigh them against a feather worn in the headdress of Maat, goddess of order. Those whose hearts balanced perfectly with the feather were allowed to pass into the underworld; the rejected were devoured by the Eater of Souls.

Also available singly in a polythene bag.
