Apart from the infamous monarchs, the Tudor age (1485-1603) is well known for its contribution to the arts, literature and exploration. He had six wives in his quest for an heir and is buried in St George's chapel, Windsor. Elizabeth I was the daughter of Henry VIII and was Queen of England from 1558 until her death in 1603. During her reign she had Mary, Queen of Scots imprisoned for 19 years and then executed. She also had Shakespeare read her poetry and entertain her in court.
