Old manuscripts such as those of Kells, Durrow and Lindisfarne reveal the designs of artwork that was used by the Celts. The Celts expressed their artistic genius in such art and crafts as metalwork, sculpture and ceramics. The Celts began crossing the English Channel about 500 B.C. and were the first invaders of England.
