Viking Ship Enamel Pendant

Product Description: This Enamelled Ship Pendant is made from metal that is gold coloured and is inlaid with red and white enamel. The ship is supplied on a gold chain and is mounted on an information card, which has an image of Odin’s mask in the background and spiral patterns down the sides on the front. On the reverse of the card there is a brief description of why jewellery was important to the Vikings.

Information: Both Viking men and women wore jewellery. The function of the richest jewellery was to clearly display wealth and status, as much as for decoration or to fasten clothing.

Viking jewellery developed into intricate and masterful artistry, with a strong preference for silver. The main themes were patterns of nature and animals, mythology, as well as simple geometric patterns.
