Product Description: This World War II Coin Set of 3 Coins has original coins of George VI attached to the front of a card. The coins are a George VI Penny, Threepence and Sixpence and are stuck onto an information card. The information card has an image of the Union Jack and two Spitfires on the front and information about rationing and pay during World War I on the reverse.

Information: George VI coinage (1936–1952) featured his portrait and symbolized stability during wartime. Designs included traditional royal emblems, British birds & Iconic ships reflecting continuity, empire pride, and post-war resilience in Britain’s currency.

Rationing in World War II was introduced to ensure fair distribution of scarce resources. In Britain, it began in 1940 with basic items like bacon, butter, and sugar, later extending to meat, eggs, clothing, and even fuel. Each citizen was issued a ration book with coupons that had to be presented when buying restricted goods. The system encouraged people to grow their own food through the “Dig for Victory” campaign, while recipes promoted creative cooking with limited ingredients.
